Oh yeah, baby. Next year SmokeLong will be celebrating its 10th anniversary of publishing flash fiction on the web.
To celebrate this milestone, we are announcing an exciting project–a print anthology of the best of the last 10 years. SmokeLong Quarterly–The Best of the First 10 Years will be published by Matter Press in early 2013 and will feature work from all of the first 40 issues of SLQ.
Our staff is in the process of choosing the stories for the anthology, and we will be contacting authors shortly with the news. The anthology will feature introductions of each story by past and current editors of SmokeLong, and a foreword by founder and publisher Dave Clapper. The anthology will be edited by senior editor Tara Laskowski.
We are very excited to share this news, and proud to be one of the longest running online fiction publications out there. In its long history, SLQ has had the privilege of publishing stories by many wonderful established writers and, perhaps even more exciting, discovering emerging writers.
We’ll keep you all posted on the publication date, but please look for us, and the book, at AWP 2013 in Boston.
Thank you all for being such loyal readers and fans, and for sending us amazing work throughout the years.
Fantastic! Congratulations!
